Skenderbeu Music – Cesk Zadeja (Albania)

This work was composed by the great master of Albanian music Cesk Zadeja, who composed the song in honor of the Albanian national hero Gjergj Kastriot Skenderbeu, wanting to give value to his heroic wars in the film made in his honor. Zadeja managed to turn one of the songs of his homeland, into a kind of anthem for Albanians, an anthem that, by dressing the hero, lifting the hearts of those who listen to him. The Albanian music that Zadeja had created, took its nectar in folkloric notes, and this was one of the reasons for the success of his evaluation.

La scherzosa – Alfredo D'Ascoli (Puglia)

“La scherzosa - marcia caratteristica” is a composition of Alfredo D’Ascoli, an important musician born in 1895, band director who also worked with Toscanini. He was director of Concerto Musicale Città di Lecce “Tito Schipa” fom 1951 to 1971. He composed various works for Symphonic Band and many trascriptions from the opera and symphonic repertoire. After a very short introduction the main theme of the composition is characterized by great simplicity and singability. An interesting element that colors the piece with liveliness is represented by the repeated brilliant trills. The composition therefore inspires animated suggestions and immediate involvement of the listeners.
